The artist’s muse was inborn in Ajit Chaudhary, and right from a young age he has been winning many awards and accolades for his paintings. His ‘dreams’ finally turned to reality when he was admitted in 1991 to the prestigious JJ School of Art, Bombay, from where he graduated.
Ajit has been a professional artist with different thoughts ever since and his current series is based on the subliminal dream concept. Variations in the nature of dreams have taught him to view the world through different angles. Ajit’s works are not just showpieces but are thoughts to ponder over, something that can take a person into a surrealistic world trying to interpret the meaning of dreams. His paintings have been taken seriously with many artists having different takes on the interpretation of his dreams symbolized at various levels, from the very unswerving to the subliminal window of the soul. Colors, shapes and form are based on his dreams, with an attempt to highlight the moods and emotions that can be created by a dream.
Dreams inspired these paintings. Dreams have been induced by these paintings. Dreams are these paintings. These are dream paintings….
Ajit Chaudhary’s artwork emerges from the depths of his soul…a place where dreams are spun…dream collages representing the evolving language of the artist’s own dream iconography.
The Romantic Movement in European literature which emphasized the value of emotion and irrational inspiration in dreams was the basis for Ajit’s paintings after he graduated from art school. “Visions”, whether from dreams or intoxication, served as raw material and were taken to represent his creative potential. Symbolism and Expressionism turned his dream imagery into visual art form where the fine line between fantasy and reality is hazy. The subconscious mind influenced his surrealistic images and combined the visionary impulses of Romantics and Expressionists with a focus on the unconscious as a creative tool, and an assumption that apparently irrational content could contain significant meaning, perhaps more so than rational content. His ability to vividly depict nonrealistic events, an avant-garde rarity is something unique and has made him one among the best modern dream artists.
Dream material continues to be used by a wide range of contemporary artists other than dream artists as it is considered by be of psychological value for the artist…independent of the artistic value of the results…as part of the discipline of “dream work”. Ajit regularly uses the reflection technique for inducing lucid dreams, consisting of continuously suspecting waking life to be a dream, in the hope that such a habit would manifest itself during dreams.
Oneirology or the attempt to prove that dreams occur in color is also highly evident in Ajit’s work. Given the unreliability of dream memories and following the critical realism approach, he uses lucid dreaming as an epistemological tool for investigating dreams.
The cognitive expressions of dreamers, as well as that of dream figures are both inseperably entwined in Ajit’s work making him one among the finest dream artists.

The depth and symbolism in Ajit’s work are simply mesmerizing. My painting is a constant source of contemplation; it truly takes you into that surrealistic world he describes. A masterpiece of subconscious thought.
I chose 'The Soul's Window' and the colors are even more luminous in person. The quality of the acrylic and the unique mixed media technique are evident. An authentic and valuable addition to my modern collection.
For clients seeking a truly unique statement piece, Ajit Chaudhary’s work is my first recommendation. The movement and color in his pieces dramatically elevate a room, creating a focal point that is both vibrant and deeply personal. It’s art that designs the space.
Chaudhary is a modern master of the acrylic pour technique, but he elevates it with profound conceptual intent. His 'Dream Art' provides genuine, lasting inspiration—a powerful exploration of the inner self that few artists achieve.
